5 Things to do to set up your business today.

You are that ambitious creative and you are ready to get started. You might even want to quit your day job and turn your creative passion into a full-time moneymaker.

First of all let’s give some praise here for you showing up and being here.

YOU ARE AWESOME.

No really we need more people like you. With a world so filled with mass produced stuff, we need more real (hmmmm... sounds like somebody is calling me) And that means YOU:

Creatives, setting off to make the world a better place. Where beautiful items, unique gifts and originality rule!

It's awesome that you're ready to take the leap into building your online creative business. Don't worry, I got your back! When you are just getting started things might be overwhelming. Making it not easy!

That is why I have collected these simple yet effective steps for you. See, most people might tell you you need a website, get some business. cards and you are done. Well there is much more to it than that. BUT that doesn't mean it’s not do-able. It sure is... I am just like you and I did not know how to build a business. No expertise nada, nothing.

So here are five small steps you can take in just one day to set yourself up for a successful start:

  1. Get That Name Game Right: Your business needs a catchy and memorable name that reflects your creative vibe. You could use your own name or you might want to use a different name. Using your own name can feel very intimidating and personal, so think about what it feels like for you.
Spend some time brainstorming and jotting down potential names. Think about what makes you unique and what message you want to convey. Keep it fun, snappy, and relevant to your creative niche. Once you've got a few options, ask your friends and fellow creatives for their opinions. Remember, the name sets the tone, so make it count!

  2. Get Your Mindset on Point: Building a successful creative business takes more than just skills and talent. It requires a positive mindset and a strong commitment. Take a moment to envision yourself as a successful business owner. Believe in your abilities and embrace the challenges that lie ahead. It won't always be easy, but with the right mindset, you'll be ready to tackle anything that comes your way. A great way to take this step and make it powerful is to write down what you want to build. What kind of business or maybe where do you want to end up? Do you have specific goals in mind? You could create a vision board or write down key words in your journal. What would your dream business look like?

  3. Define Your Niche and Target Audience: You want to stand out from the crowd, right? That's where finding your niche comes in. Identify what makes your creative work special and who your ideal customers are. Are you into whimsical illustrations? Edgy jewelry designs? Moody photography? Whatever it is, hone in on your unique style and figure out who will appreciate it the most. Knowing your target audience will help you tailor your marketing efforts and connect with the right people.

  4. Make a Commitment Schedule: Balancing a day job and a side hustle can be challenging, but it's doable. Take a few minutes to map out a commitment schedule. Determine how many hours you can dedicate to your creative business each week, and be realistic about it. Treat those hours as sacred and hold yourself accountable. Consistency is key, so even if it's just a few hours a week, make sure you stick to your commitment. The best way to do this is to set out work blocks for each day. Some days you work a 2 hour time block in the evening and other days you commit to starting with a 4 hour block. It's really effective and whilst you still have to actually do it. It releases you from having to decide, because you already decided!

  5. Take Action, Yes that is the next step! I know I know it sounds silly… but wait hear me out. Okay so taking action might feel like the most logical way to continue your journey but when you are taking steps that are easy, the task is no biggie. The hard part is to keep momentum going. To not stop…. To keep moving forward even if you have no idea. Even when you feel insecure, even when you are tired of making choices that will actually all feel the wrong one…. That is when you need to keep going the most. So… Now that you have your name, mindset, niche, and commitment schedule sorted, it's time to take action! Start your website, share to people that you are starting your own creative brand… and that you are open for business

Remember, these steps are just the beginning, but they'll give you a solid foundation to kickstart your creative business. Stay focused, keep hustling, and don't be afraid to take risks. You got this! Now go out there and show the world what you're made of!

One more thing I had nobody when I started doing this... and I want to let you know I am here...  I've got your back!
